At the end of the five-day official visit of the Parliamentary Friendship Group to Pakistan, Ahmad Amirabadi Farahani, in an exclusive interview with IRNA said that keeping in view the developments in Afghanistan, the consultations between Islamabad and Tehran are considered very important because "we need to reach a common ground to get out of the regional crisis."
He said that during meetings and talks with parliamentary and government officials in Islamabad and Karachi, the delegation has come to know that views of Iran and Pakistan on Afghanistan are almost similar, and in many cases "we even have a common view".
He added that tribes and people must play a role in the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan, and the government that is being formed in Afghanistan must be committed to guarding its common borders with its neighbors, resolutely fighting drug trafficking, and terrorism and not allow terrorists to use its territory either against Iran or Pakistan.
Referring to the simultaneous visit of a parliamentary delegation and a high-ranking military delegation from the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces headed by Major General Mohammad Bagheri to Pakistan, the Qom MP added this shows the warmth and desire of the two countries to further develop ties in all areas.
Amirabadi added that, fortunately, the conversations between the Iranian delegation and the Pakistani officials show that they, along with the people of the country, respect the Islamic Revolution of Iran.
He said the stands of the Pakistani government are fully in harmony with the Iranian people and government in countering attempts to sabotage regional peace.
He said the government and parliament of Pakistan, along with the people of Iran, will work for economic growth and prosperity in the region and never allow other parties, some of whom may have been deceived by the Zionist regime to create chaos in the region.
The head of the Iran-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Iranian parliament emphasized that enhanced ties among Islamic countries in the region are an integral part of Iranian foreign policy.
The representative of Qom in the parliament said Islamabad has taken a strong position on the relations of some Arab countries with the Zionist regime and is strongly opposed to the normalization of relations with Tel Aviv and does not recognize this fake regime.
He noted that Pakistanis, on the other hand, support the Palestinian people on humanitarian and Islamic principles.
Amirabadi added the Islamic Republic of Iran has a common view on the Muslims' cooperation with the Palestinian people and countering the Zionist aggression in the region.
The head of the Iran-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group in the parliament termed Pakistan as one of the most important countries in the region and noted that parliamentary friendship groups between Iran and Pakistan are very active.
He said the Speaker of the Pakistani Parliament has also approved Iran's proposal to form an Iran-China-Pakistan friendship group.
The parliamentarian further said that Iran, China and Pakistan have common interests in the region and the interaction of their friendship groups and parliamentary diplomacy should also reach the highest level.
Amirabadi said the Iranian parliamentary delegation proposed the formation of a working committee of the Ministry of Interior of Iran and Pakistan and the Pakistani side welcomed this proposal and it was decided that we will follow up on the issue in Tehran.
During a three-day visit to Islamabad, the Iranian parliamentary delegation met with senior officials, including the Speaker of the National Assembly, the heads, and members of the two countries' friendship groups in the Pakistani National Assembly and Senate, as well as the Prime Minister's Advisor on Trade.
In the second phase of its visit to Pakistan, the delegation spent two days in the southern city of Karachi and returned to Tehran on Friday.
The Iranian parliamentary delegation in Karachi held important talks with parliamentary representatives, as well as officials and members of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the neighboring country on strengthening bilateral relations, parliamentary diplomacy and trade expansion.
